The Swans played their first match at Mortimor Oval for the year and came out fighting as they battled out a tough quality match against the Tigers. At no stage up until last quarter was their more that 10 points in the matc. The Swans should be proud of the way they fought out the match, in the end a 7 minute lapse of concentration in the final term saw the result go the Tigers way.
Ruchman Shaun Wadwell and Brodie battled well against Tweed giant as did the Swans midfield. Dean Webb marked well and kicked beautifully at goal while Tom Merrett and Chris Devonish showed signs of quality. Shaun Wadwell kicked a brilliant set shot goal from the boundary and Kael Herman battled hard from the backline.
The Swans having 10 inclusions into the side this week played well and worked hard as a team. Getting players down to training now that players are back from uni break will be pivotal to the success of the side in the 2012 season. The Swans have plenty of talent as shown on Saturday and definately have the capabilities of something special but destiny is now upto the playing group on how hard they want to work and what they want to get out of the season.
Best on the day were Rhys Lavery, Scott Brown, Kael Herman, Dean Webb, Tom Merrett, Phil Tsourlinis.
Goals went to Dean Webb with 4, 2 goals each to Tom Merrett and Scott Brown, while singles were kicked by Andy James, George Massa, Shaun Wadwell and Will Kent.
Next week the Swans travel to Robina to take on Bond Uni in a night game 5:30pm start.
