It's been a tough season for the Swannies so far, with lots of hard fought wins and heartbreaking 'ones that got away'. With the Swannies currently sitting in fourth place on the ladder and having only six games left until the finals series, each game is becoming crucial to the Swannies success in making an on field appearance in September.
This week's game sees the lads take on a much improved Ballina side who defeated their more fancied opponents in Tweed Coast Tigers last week at Fripp Oval by six points in a major upset. However, bouyed by recent strong performances against the Bombers, Joe Mitchell and his charges will be full of confidence they can return the favour and knock off Ballina and inch closer to securing a finals series.
"We really took it to Ballina in our last match down at Fripp Oval, coming from 27 points down early in the last to steal a draw was a massive effort and one the boys remember fondly" says Mitchell. "It's hard to come in at three quarter time being 21 points down and have them kick a goal in the first minute of the last quarter and not drop your heads. But to the boys credit they lifted and took it all the way"
The Swans should be full of fresh legs after a week off footy due to Robina Kangaroos unfortunately not being able to field a side and forfeiting their game last week.
The senior grade kicks off at Mortimer Oval at 2pm on Saturday July 5th. Reserve grade have a bye.
A full canteen will be available on the day and families are most welcome to come along and cheer on the Swannies!
