A full strength Eagles side were in full flight at the weekend against longtime powerhouse the Logan Cobras. The Eagles 2012 season has been slow to start with at least 8 players absent in the first 3 games. The planets aligned though on the weekend with a full strength team and the Eagles kicked up a gear. With dominating ruckwork from Taylor Harris, and a midfield that had plenty of zip thanks to Rachel Anstey (Best on ground) , Madi Crowley, Ally Anderson and Yolanda Jones.
The backline was solid in its defence and had plenty of run off the halfback with Mikayla Anderson, Roxanne Brock and Sam Engle marshalling the troops.
Logan the four time premiership winners, have been depleted this season with gun player Jade Pregelji taking an off field role in 2012. The game saw the Eagles keep the Cobras scoreless kicking a 14.26.110 to 0.0.0. With a 4 goal haul from full forward Monica Allen and 7 other goal scorers, it was an even contribution from all. The Eagles have only beat Logan once before since their inception in 2005. Congreatluations girls, this is a great step forward for the team.
This week's game is against last placed Marooka at Griffith Uni on Friday night at 7pm.
