Firstly, may I congratulate Wayne Fletcher,his coaching staff and support and of course the players on a wonderful result last saturday. As a team,the players did everyone associated with the Noosa Tigers very proud.
Their determination and grit and willingness to follow their roles to the letter is the reason they are now deserved premiership players of the Noosa FC.
Whilst celebrations will continue for a while I thought we may move on to our next topic - Who will be crowned Noosas club champion in this Premiership year,2010.And what an honour it would be.Here`s my thoughts on who this columnist believes is well and truly in the running;
Cubby Isles - he is my tip. The 2007 club champion has had an awesome season. Only twice out of the best during the regular season,Cubby followed up with a fantastic final series including a magnificent running performance in the GF.Got himself supremely fit for 2010 and didn`t get the usual tags with matthews and Brauer playing alongside him in the middle.Would certainly be a worthy winner.
Luke Matthews - State rep`,All Australian country selection and without doubt the most explosive onballer in the PHC.Luke was a massive reason behind the tigers flag success in 2010 and certainly didn`t let us down in the big one last Saturday.Very eyecatching and will surely be up their in the voting.
Luke Brauer- State rep`,League medallist(although inelligible) and GF medalist for best on ground.Enough said.Brew has been a revelation in 2010 with his hardness at the contest and overall professionalism.His work around the contest is as good as any and his fitness has allowed to rack up plenty of quallity possessions throughout the year.Another big chance to be crowned Noosa best.
Brendan Page - State rep` and all round trojen whose tireless ruck work throughout the year did not go unnoticed.Infact,without the presence of this big man and his ability around the ground the chances of a Tiger flag would have been far less conceivable.Always stood up when it counted and was amongst the tigers best almost every week.
James Brain - another from that Ovens and Murray region who more than shone for the Tigers in 2010. His finals performances alone helped the tigers acheive the ultimate wher he was just a live wire up forward showing off his great array of skills.Was just as effective further up the ground throughout the season and is certainly eye catching to the footy follower.Should poll well especially early and also during the finals campaign.
Jay Reynolds - the rolls royce of the tiger outfit. This 2010 State rep` has got it all,as he showed the tiger faithfull on Saturday where his GF performance will go down as one of the best this writer has seen in atiger jumper.Gets the hard footy,kicks goals,weaves through heavy traffic at will and has sublime disposal.The 2009 Club champion has struugled at times due to injury in 2010 however he still managed plenty of top games which I know will be extremely noticeable to the vote givers.Certainly not without a chance.
I wouldn`t write off skipper Bovalino who has again been a model of consistency or the pacy Nathan Spring who has had a tremendous first season for the tigers.I`d expect garry Wallace to poll well early whilst the likes of Smith,Eddy and `old man` river Angel duke should get his fair share of votes also.
See you down at the club from midday Sunday.May as well have a few more to celebrate that momentus tiger win last weekend.
Cheers
Pittsy
