Midfielder Savours Thumping Win

THE Noosa Tigers' 2011 Pineapple Hotel Cup premiership win should have been a particularly memorable one for midfielder Ryan Sawers.
Sawers was helped from the field in the second quarter of the Tiger's grand final win on Saturday with a bump on his head which made it look like he was hiding a tennis ball under his scalp.
He suffered a mild concussion in the incident which stopped play for several minutes at Fishermans Road Oval, Maroochydore.
He did not remember any of the first half, including the incident. However, that did not stop him from savouring his first premiership.
"I don't remember the first half, I remember the second," he said.
"It's just a blur."
He went into Saturday's game against Palm Beach Currumbin with a zero-from-two record in grand finals.
He was there in 2006 when the Tigers lost to the Western Magpies and again when they lost to Palm Beach Currumbin in the 2009 decider.
While the side won the 2010 premiership, Sawers took the year off footy, only to return to the club in 2011.
"I lost the last two grand finals," he said. "But this tops it off pretty much. It's great, this is what you play footy for. I'm just glad to be a part of it. I'm just stoked, mate.
"...We played here in 2009, but it's just good to be a part of a winning team.
"We had pride in our jersey this year. We worked hard at everything, we trained hard, we had good coaches right around the club who have supported us."
Sawers said the thumping 16.6 (102) to 5.6 (36) victory was just reward for the side which had been so dominant all season.
"We've had consistency from all the players, who have all done their job," he said. "It's going to be a good night."
