No thought was needed when it came to reappointing Stuart Vimpany as Senior Coach for the 2014 season. After taking on the role in the 2012 summer he quickly transformed the senior squad into a structured well oiled machine and of coarse lead the club to its first premiership. Vimpanys winning record stands at 15 wins and 1 loss for a winning percentage of 93.7%. The only question on everyone's mind is "Can he do it again in 2014"?
We see a wealth of experience join the coaching panel with the appointments of Rick Pritchett and Rick Mills as senior assistants.
Pritchett played his last game in the 2013 Grand Final after a career that spans over 3 decades. He proved a valued leader during the 2013 campaign and will now learn to lead from the Coaches box.
Mills joins CAFC from Beenleigh, coaching the Buffalos seniors for the past 2 years and was named coach of the year in 2013. His playing career included 4 premierships and was a league representative 4 times for the Yarra Valley League. He spent a year with Collingwoods Under 19's and was an assistant coach at Warburton FC.
Steve "Spike" Mathews will take over from Guy Vimpany as Reserves Coach. Mathews has played over 300 games at a high level, his playing career boasts of spending time with Frankston in the VFA, making the NSW Country team and training with Melbourne FC. He has coached Kenmore, Tweed Heads, 16's at Beenleigh & Carrara and coached Jimboomba to a flag. "Spike" is a level 2 coach and is expected to bring some big initiatives to the development of our senior squad.
The Under 18's Coach is expected to be announced in the coming days.
