Led by none other than 'Track Monster' Greg Stirton, the Maroochydore Roos will aim to bring back the illustrious Australia Day Dunny Cup which is contested each year at the Ettamogah Pub.
The Roos once had a stranglehold on the coveted trophy however were dethroned by the Sea Eagles (Rugby League) in 2012 (event was cancelled due to the cyclonic conditions that smashhed the Coast last year).
But having slugged it out through Percy's arduous fitness regime since December, the Roos are keen to bring that trophy back to the rightful code.
Competitors in the race must pull an outdoor 'dunny-on-wheels' up the 200m, slightly inclined straight immediatley in front of the Ettamogah Pub. There is eight teams in total who compete a series of heats before a grand final race determines the victors.
It looks fun but it is bloody hard work.
This years team consists of Greg Stirton, Nige Baker, Jack Gale and Jesse Goldfinch while Club Captain Michael Roberts will come off the bench and help out if needed and Flyweight Juzzy Wickham will ride shotgun ont he preceline throne.
While the trophy itself is prize the Roos are chasing, we must also remember there is $2000 up for grabs which will go along way to quench the combatants Australia day thirst.
The event kicks off at 10am on Australia Day. Get down there to cheer the Roo Boys on.
