The new Sherwood/Western Magpies change rooms at Chelmer will be officially opened on Saturday at 12 noon before the Western Magpies home match against league leaders Morningside.
A lot of hard work has gone into the realisation of the new rooms which have taken over 2 years to be completed.
Current President Chris Dennis was instrumental in a successful application for a BCC Community Funds Grant and then overseeing the building of the facility on behalf of the club Board.
Past-president Bruce McNicol was also instrumental in obtaining the Grant and helping with the oversight of the construction.
Special guests at the opening will be Cr Nicole Johnston, BCC member for Tennyson Ward, AFLQ CEO Michael Conlan, AFLQ Planning & Infrastructure Manager Jake Anson,
Alex Smith, oldest surviving Sherwood AFC Life Member and Don Lougheed , Club President in the 1980’s.
All club sponsors have been invited the opening and many people have contributed to the finished change rooms. These people will all be recognised in an article on the opening in next week’s website.
