The Rococo Bistro and Bar Noosa Tigers sit equal top of the Division 1 Hart Sport Cup ladder after another impressive display at Weyba road on Saturday. Only percentage separates the top four sides with Coorparoo, Maroochydore and 3 time premiers Mayne all on the same points as Noosa with Springwood making up the five. Speaking of percentages, if it weren’t for some errant kicking early on Saturday the local boys could really have put the nail in the coffin against Yeronga as the tigers kept the visitors scoreless in the first stanza. However the South Brisbane outfit responded in the second quarter - totally dominating the midfield battle and getting the better of the clearances all over the ground. At the main break the margin had been cut to within 3 goals and the match hanging in the balance.
The second half was all Noosa as their midfielders really started to turn up the heat. Duel best and fairest winner Nick Hill was everywhere in the second half as was Tom Templeton who once again was one of the best men on the ground. Jai Fitzpatrick and strongman Barry Smeeton also had a strong impact on the match as the delivery to the forward line improved with more movement and options from our forwards. Coach Sam Faure had a terrific game racking up 26 possessions and booting 5 for the day in a near best on ground performance. Power forward Ryan 'Rizza' Jeffries was again a fantastic target taking some strong grabs and booting four goals himself. Add to that the three goals kicked by the ever dangerous Kent Delbridge and it’s no wonder the tiger forward line is starting to gain momentum. Once again the backline were the backbone of consistency led brilliantly again by the super impressive Aaron Laskey. His strength in the contest and his elite skills by both hand and foot was first class. Mitch Woods was impressive again as was Lambourn with skipper Opie, Wallace and Mckittrick as solid as rocks in the defensive half.
Speaking of McKittrick, the club would like to congratulate Tom on wonderful 100 games for the Noosa Tigers. The dual premiership player and ex captain is a very big reason why the tigers are consistent finals contenders. Well done Tom on another really good effort and helping the Tigers to their 4th win in a row in season 2017. With the long trip to Burleigh coming up this Saturday, the Tigers will need to be on their game to take the points on the Gold Coast. Overall another good all round team performance witnessed by our many happy and proud sponsors. A big thanks to all our wonderful sponsors once again and see you all down on the Gold Coast this Saturday.
Cheers, Pittsy
