The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers sit on top of the Harts Sports Division 1 ladder after a 17 goal demolition of Bond Uni at Weyba rd last Saturday. After a fairly even first half where the cellar dwellers threw everything at the more experienced and talented Tigers, it was a blistering 10 goal 3rd quarter that was the highlight of the day. Even with several Bond Uni players flooding back, Noosa were able to smash through the defence with skill and precision to put the visitors away and stave off any plans of turning the game into an even scrap.
Again it was the trio of Templeton (4 goals), Laskey and the skilful Fitzpatrick who stole the show for the victors. Champion rover Caleb Isles racked up plenty of touches in his senior return whilst debutant Mackinnon Johnston was super impressive gathering plenty of the footy and kicking a goal. I had the pleasure of roving to Johnston’s father Dane in the late 80s and 90s and I must say the youngster looks a bit more nimble on his feet – great pedigree though! Barry Smeeton and ruckman Jaise Coleman again impressed for the tigers with Mitch Woods solid off half back as is becoming the norm.
Ryan Jeffrey and coach Sam Faure bagged 3 each to join Templeton as the major goal scorers as the Tigers head down the Bruce highway this Saturday to take on triple premiers Mayne in a massive clash. It looks to be even bigger as AFL Queensland and Mayne legend Andrew Housego breaks the game record at Mayne. This is a great achievement from just a terrific Queensland local. Well done from all at Noosa Andrew. This is a game not to be missed. See you there on Saturday. Go Tigers.
