The Rococo Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers have made it ten wins in a row against a more than gallant Caloundra in front of a fully packed house and under the new lighting system at Weyba Rd. A massive crowd from all sporting codes across the Noosa district flocked to see a gigantic arm wrestle between an experienced and skilful Noosa outfit up against a young and fast panther side. In fact for this writer it was probably as good as game as I've witnessed in the past couple of years - great pressure and courage shown all over the ground. Also, the skill level under the lights certainly didn't disappoint the crowd too as the ever persistent panthers kept threatening right up until the last 10 minutes of the game - where the tigers kept their fantastic winning sequence going.
All over the ground there were good players for Noosa but without doubt the difference between the two sides was Noosa big gun forward Ryan Jeffrey whose 5 goals and strength in the air so telling on the contest. Jeffrey was easily the most dominant forward on the ground and I'm sure Caloundra senior coach Steve Moody would have loved the services of ex lion Daniel Merrett to contribute the way Jeffery did for the Tigers. Merrett of course unable to play due to media commitments was a big loss for the Panthers. Tiger ruckman Jaise Coleman was a standout once again whilst onballers Fitzpatrick, Isles, Hill, Smeeton and Templeton were always in the game and forever threatening. Isles especially was superb throughout, racking up 37 touches whilst the last half of Hill should not go unnoticed. As usual, it was the Tigers defence who really shone with Lambourn, Laskey and McKittrick mopping up absolutely everything as all three players continue their outstanding seasons thus far.
All in all a great contest and big occasion enjoyed by all as the top of the table Tigers head down to face the only side who has beaten them this year in Springwood. This is one definitely not to be missed and should be a cracker! A big thank you to horse racing celebrity Greg Miles and Gary Wilkie for a wonderful President’s Dinner last Saturday and of course to all who help organised these fabulous fundraisers for the club. Final congratulations to both Tommy Templeton and Jai Fitzpatrick who have both been selected in the South Queensland rep squad to play in Cairns later this year. Well deserved to both of them. Go Tigers! Cheers, Pittsy
