The Rococo Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers sit two games clear on top of the Hart Sport Division 1 Ladder after an enthralling 20 point win over the 3rd placed Springwood last Saturday. With triple premiers Mayne downing rivals Maroochydore, the Noosa boys now sit 8 points and percentage ahead of their arch enemy. The Springwood game was indeed a ripper as two very high quality teams went at each other the entire day. Both teams have power talls in the right places and it was only poor goalkicking from both teams that soured the spectacle. The Rococo Noosa Tigers were pushed all the way as a persistent Puma outfit came within 4 points mid way through the final quarter only to see the ladder leaders respond brilliantly and keep their terrific 11 game winning streak alive.
Senior coach Sammy Faure, who was so instrumental in the win with 3 match winning goals and 26 possessions, said afterwards ‘this was a really good win against stern opposition. It was really pleasing to be challenged heavily away from home and respond the way we did. There’s still a big couple of weeks ahead with Coorparoo away this week and of course Maroochydore at home the following week so heaps of hard work ahead of us." Speaking of hard work no one has epitomised that more than the Tigers backline and in particular Aaron Laskey and Joel Lambourn who were again standouts for Noosa. Opponents of any height or pace don’t seem to faze these two and along with ex skipper and dual premiership hero Peter Trompf. Connor McDonald in the ruck was superb the entire day whilst Templeton and Fitzpatrick continue their stellar years with great skill and a particular ability to hold their feet in the middle. Also, what about the game of champion rover come wingman ‘Cubby’ Isles who ran Springwood off their feet amassing 37 touches on the way to be adjudged best on ground. All in all another terrific win for the Rococo Noosa Tigers whose momentum just continues to grow as the season progresses
It’s another big game against finals contender Coorparoo in Brisbane this Saturday (well worth the trip down the Bruce Highway to have a look). It’s a happy place at Tigerland right now but we all know there's a long way to go. Go Tigers!
Cheers, Pittsy
