The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers have cemented top position and a home second semi final at Weyba Road in a fortnight with a pretty gritty come from behind win over Mayne last Saturday. The loss tips the three peat champions out of the finals race for the first time in five years whilst Noosa await the result of the qualifying final where Maroochydore host Springwood this Saturday.
The Noosa Tigers Reserves also play a qualifying final at Fishermans road where they play Mayne for the second week in a row. With a big crowd in attendance following the overflow of guests from the Mega Auction Day luncheon, the seniors put on a show in what was a tough and even contest. Both teams went head to head with goal kicking once again an inconsistency for the Rococo Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers as the cool westerly win wreaked havoc amongst the players. At three quarter time the game was in the balance with the Brisbane based outfit holding sway by 8 points, however the Noosa Tigers rallied banging on the final six goals of the game to run out 40 point victors.
Up forward the three pinged attack in Jeffreys (4 goals), Coach Faure (4) and Delbridge (3) again did the damage and have kicked some 140 goals between them in season 2017. Back to back best and fairest Nick Hill was instrumental in the middle the entire day gathering 37 disposals whilst fellow hard nut Barry Smeeton also impressive around the stoppages and in the coalface as it is called. Templeton had a heap of extra attention as he will in the coming weeks; however by game’s end he certainly played a large part in the win. Down back who else but Aaron Laskey, along with Hill, would be vying for best on ground honours in what has been a super consistent season for the strong stay on your feet defender - a very important cog in the tiger machine. It’s a week off this week for the seniors before back at Weyba Road the following Saturday for a major semi final against either the arch enemy Maroochydore or Springwood. The mouth is watering for a huge clash on Saturday 2nd September. Noosa Tigers AFC would like to thank all those who contributed to our ‘President’s Luncheons’ this year and what a way to finish with 170 guest in attendance to witness Sam Newman on Saturday. Good luck to all tiger junior teams who start their finals campaigns this weekend and of course get down to Maroochydore and cheer on the Reserves as they attempt once again to find premiership glory.
Go Tigers,
Cheers Pittsy
