The Rococo’s Bar and Bistro Noosa tigers are directly through to the 2017 Division 1 Hart Sport Grand Final after a resounding six goal victory over arch rival Maroochydore last Saturday at Weyba Road. In front of a very large Noosa crowd (estimated at the gate to be somewhere close to 1500 people) the Tigers were just superb the entire day. From the start to the end the Noosa boys attack on the ball and work off the footy was just a treat to watch. Their precision in particular by hand so noticeably superior to an opponent that looked fumbly and maybe even a tad wounded.
The middle was where the good work started with Jaise Coleman, Nick Hill and Jai Fitzpatrick a major reason why the tigers were able to set up a grand final appearance. Coleman was terrific throughout against a much taller and well credentialed ruckman whilst Hill’s first half was just all grunt and class. Young gun Fitzpatrick again showing the big crowd his array of skills before and ugly incident ended his day mid way through the first quarter.
Up forward Ryan Jeffrey was just outstanding and has had a great back half of the year. The mature player banged home big goals and set up several more for his partners in crime Delbridge and Coach Faure who again chipped in with five between them. Brisbane Lions premiership player Robert ‘Bushy’ Copeland and Barry Smeeton were also in the thick of the action up forward with their fierce attack on the ball. The defence once again is just a catalyst for the Tigers and their continuing success. Laskey was close to best on ground with his drive and run from defence. Lambourn was as cool as a cucumber as always and Lachy Cameron was competitive and hard to beat. Add this to the skills and composure of Woods, Trompf, Maher and McKittrick and that's a big reason why we are off to the big dance.
One more player I must mention who probably rivalled Laskey, Hill, Coleman and Jeffrey for BOG honours was the performance of running machine and star rover Caleb ‘Cubby’ Isles whose work rate and courage did not go unnoticed by a parochial Noosa crowd. It was a top win by the Tigers who are really playing a great brand of footy at the right time of the year. It was an awesome start to the day with our Reserves coming from five goals behind early to inflict one of their best wins seen in recent times against the arch enemy and premiership favourites Maroochydore. The Tigers are heading into the Grand Final on the 16th with names like Duke, Wallace, Panaho and O’Brien catalysts for the win.
What a weekend coming up in 10 days time. Details of supporters Buses, times etc will be available on the Tigers website in coming days. A massive congrats to the Noosa Dolphins and Noosa Pirates who won their respective competitions last weekend and all the best to the Noosa Lions Soccer Club who contest their Grand Final on Saturday. There must be something in our water at the moment! Of course, we wish our U13 Youth Girls and our U16 boys teams all the best in their respective grand finals to be played at Maroochydore this Sunday.
Go Tigers,
Cheers,
Pittsy
